Bubble nucleation in a cold spin 1 gas

Cold atomic gases offer the prospect of simulating physics very early universe in laboratory. In condensate phase, gas is described by a field theory with key features high energy particle theory. This paper describes three level system which undergoes first order phase transition through nucleation bubbles. The theoretical investigation shows bubbles nucleating two dimensions at non-zero temperature. There good agreement between bubble rates calculated from Stochastic Projected Gross-Pitaevskii equation and non-perturbative instanton method. When an optical box trap included simulations, nucleate preferentially near walls trap.
